I am proud to have played an important part in instigating and developing the new writing framework, working alongside Mark Stewart. This significant initiative was led by former Worcester MP Robin Walker, who also served as Chair of the Education Select Committee and Minister for School Standards.
Together, Robin, Mark, and I consistently advocated for meaningful reform in the way handwriting is taught in schools, particularly addressing the premature introduction of cursive writing before children are developmentally ready, as well as the longstanding lack of tailored support for left-handed learners.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Robin for listening to us, believing in our message, and helping to drive this change forward.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see this new framework now being adopted in classrooms across the country.
